Prince Harry is ‘VERY IMPORTANT’ to the Commonwealth and is vital to ‘re-energise’ it

PRINCE Harry is “very important” to the Commonwealth and will play a vital role in “re-energising” the institution as he takes on an ever increasing number of duties, it has been claimed.

Following a string of uncertainty that Prince Charles may not become the next head of the Commonwealth, a source has declared that his son is set to take on new responsibilities in the organisation comprised of 53 member states.

THEY DECLARED: “THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SMALLER NATIONS HAVE JUST AS MUCH SAY IF NOT MORE ON CERTAIN ISSUES.

“DEPLOYING HARRY IS VERY IMPORTANT.”

They added that the prince will make the body “more relevant” by taking on further responsibilities to “re-energise” it.

Prince Harry is expected to take on a prominent role in the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project – he visited a scheme in Epping in 2017.

The project was first proposed by the international body three years ago.

While it appears that Prince Harry will play a more prominent role for the Commonwealth in the near future, the role of Prince Charles is still uncertain.

Last year it was reported that the leaders of the organisation had agreed that he would succeed his mother, however, a secretariat declared on Monday that a decision would only be made after her passing.

The secretariat denied earlier claims that a meeting had taken place in London on Monday that had discussed the Queen’s successor.

The statement read: “The issue of succession of the head of the Commonwealth is not part of the group’s mandate.”

An official at the secretariat added: “It’s not true that it’s been decided that the Prince of Wales will be the next head of the Commonwealth.

“The decision on the next head will only be taken after the Queen’s death.”

The next major meeting of the Commonwealth will take place in April where it is believed that a plan for succession will be issued at the end of the meeting.

One source told The Telegraph: “As part of the conversations at London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) it is perfectly natural that there will be a conversation at some point about succession going forward.”

A second source stated: “It [the succession] will be discussed at CHOGM, no question. Because Britain is hosting it this year they want to bring it to a head. What they don’t want is for the Commonwealth to split up, to become irrelevant.”

Prince Charles has formerly represented the Queen at the CHOGM, however, his succession is not guaranteed – it is not a hereditary position.
